Need continuing education units? Almost everyone does, and Forester University—the arm of Forester Media, Stormwater’s publisher, that offers webinars and other educational opportunities—is now offering online training for people in many different fields.

Forester University has launched a new website with a new schedule of events, where you can earn CEU/PDH credits, get expert information in your field, and join community discussions.

The next event coming up is a free preview of the StormCon conference. The preview will take place on August 9 at 2 p.m. EST/11 a.m. PST. Whether you’re already registered for the August conference in Anaheim or still deciding whether to attend, StormCon director Steve Di Giorgi will present the inside scoop, from the conference tracks and preconference courses to the details of the opening panel discussion and opening reception. Steve will be online to give you the insider’s guide to StormCon 2011 and to answer your questions in an open Q&A session.

Forester University offers webinars and other opportunities spanning the fields covered by Forester Media’s publications: stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, earthmoving activities, water efficiency, municipal solid waste management, distributed energy. Webinars are live presentations on industry-specific topics, led by experts who will also answer questions from the online audience. Webcasts are recorded versions of the live webinars that are available on demand—anytime and anywhere you’re ready to watch them.

Upcoming webinars on stormwater-related topics include “Permeable Pavement Design, Construction and Maintenance” with instructor Dave Hein and “Compost BMPs and LEED Green Building” with instructor Britt Faucette.

There is also an eLearning feature, with training modules on erosion and sediment control that earn CEU/PDH credit; more eLearning topics will be added in the future.

You can see a complete list of upcoming events here and meet the Forester University faculty—the experts who present the webinars—here. If you have expertise in one of these fields and are interested in presenting a webinar, you can submit an application here.

More than just offering courses, Forester University is building an interactive online community. The site includes an Idea Exchange where you can share insights and innovations with your peers, and links to social media sites to offer another level of community interaction through Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.

Check back often to see new webinars that are on the schedule. You can see the redesigned website at www.foresteruniversity.net.
